Tiny but mighty!!!! That is quite the attitude from this Piping Plover. The shorebird is not mad… just fluffing its feathers after bathing. For the side story, this bird is actually missing a foot. Some kind of accident must have happened. However, the bird seemed to move around just fine.

Snowy Egrets have striking yellow feet that match the area around their eyes. Smaller in size than the Great White Egret or the Reddish Egret, it is of similar height as Little blue Herons or Tricolored Herons. All of those birds are regularly observed at Fort Desoto Park.

Fort Desoto Park is by the far the most reliable place to photograph Reddish Egrets. In the image above, you see the bird with a successful catch.
There are many small shorebirds at that location. Many of them run around and often bath along the shoreline. I cannot get enough of the post bathing wing flaps 🙂
