Roseate Spoonbills in flight - Photography Tour

The February tour was a definite success and we had many fantastic opportunities! The image above depicts two Spoonbills with breeding colors, flying quite close to one another with the mangrove trees as backdrop. I find it a nice plus to be able to frame part of the skyline above the trees as it gives a nice sense of perspective and anchors the image well.

Thanks to the low tides we had some interesting action near the blue water. Above, we have a dramatic landing near the water edge. The shade from the mangrove trees behind create the near black background, making the bird stand out quite a bit.

It is not often to witness Spoonbills squabbling together! We were lucky to be present for a rare action sequence starring the two beautiful birds above.
