During the last February Spoonbill tour we were blessed with the presence of a beautiful White morph Reddish Egret with breeding colors. Quite the treat. 🙂 There are still two open spots for the May 30-31 Spoonbill tour! Send me an email at steven@stevenbirdphotography.com to book your spot.

This is a rare opportunity and the White morph Reddish Egret is often thought to be a Snowy Egret when looking from afar. Thankfully, I spotted this bird early on and was able to call out this unique chance to the group. Most participants were able to take a few shots before the bird decided to move to a different hunting spot. Above is the take off. Pay attention to the blue lore around the eye!

And here is a splendid full bank above the water before landing. Again, I called out the following situation to the group: while working on a group of birds in the shallow waters, pay close attention for new comers coming from the sides or from behind you. With a bit of practice, you will learn to start tracking on those birds early on and maximize your chances for banking stances.

Simple but effective! The portrait above displays an adult with full breeding colors. The shade from the mangrove trees create this near black background behind the beautiful bird.
