There are still 3 open spots for the May 30-31 Spoonbill tour! Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, I am offering a full refund up to one week prior to the workshop. Quite flexible indeed!! So, if you hesitated because of all the uncertainty, think no further and book your spot: if needed, you can cancel one week prior. Send me an email at steven@stevenbirdphotography.com

Roseate Spoonbill - Tampa Bay

All images from this blog post were created during the last February tour. The image above is what I would call a Spoonbill with attitude! This bird kept on squawking at another rookery mate a few yards to its right. Contrarily to other big wading birds, such as Great Blue Herons or Reddish Egrets, Spoonbills usually do not mind sharing the same hunting grounds.

While I could have a slightly better sun angle on the image above, this Spoonbill in flight came out razor sharp out of the box and virtually no crop was applied. The composition with the mangrove trees slightly below was icing on the cake, beautifully anchoring the image. 🙂

Another view of a previously posted portrait. Look at this magnificent bird with full breeding colors! The Tampa Bay Spoonbill rookery is the only place were this image can reliably be created.
