Images from the November Florida wading birds and shorebirds tour!

The November 8th-9th 2025 Florida shorebirds & wading birds tour was a great success!! Check out a few images from the session. Note that I still have open spots for the 2026 Spoonbill & fishing Osprey tours. Shoot me an email at steven@stevenbirdphotography.com if you are interested 🙂

Great Blue Herons should not be ignored. While not dancing hunters like the Reddish Egrets they are still quite skilled predators. What a nice catch in sweet lighting!!

Well, as expected this was the star of the show. Few other birds can put on quite the same visual impact on a hunting move. The image above is quite nice with the symmetry around the S pattern of the wings. The crazy hair do is a nice add-on too 🙂 When photographing Reddish Egrets, make sure you are not too close to your subject in order to avoid clipping the wings in your shots.

The same subject in a different flavor… Photographing Reddish Egrets during overcast days can give you stunning results. Besides the magnificent wings up pose above, we also have a nice high key outcome.

Another special that I am very fond of: white on white effect! The way to create those types of images is to work on a white subject during an overcast day and if possible, slightly backlit.
